Why Putting On Compression Is So Hard - and How a Zipper Changes It

If you wear compression every day, you know the feeling. You sit on the edge of the bed, gather the fabric, and start pulling. Inch by inch. By the time they're on, you're hot, tired and already behind for the day.

Why is it such a struggle?

Compression works by gently squeezing your legs, firmest at the ankle and easing upward. That firm fabric is exactly what makes it so hard to pull over your foot, heel and calf. For women with heavy, swollen or tender legs, or stiff hands and a sore back, it can turn into a daily battle. Many of us end up leaving compression in the drawer.

How VYVE started

VYVE began at our kitchen table. My wife Adele has lived with varicose veins for years and needed compression every day. Watching her fight to get them on each morning, we asked a simple question: why hasn't anyone made this easier?

After sample after sample, we found the answer: a full outer-leg zipper.

How the zipper changes everything

  • Open wide, step in. The zipper opens the leg from just above the ankle to mid-thigh, so there's no dragging tight fabric over your skin.
  • Zip up to your fit. Once zipped, you get the same gentle graduated compression of 15-20 mmHg, from ankle to hip.
  • Nobody needs to know. The fabric is 100% opaque and looks like smart black tights, not medical wear.
  • Pockets. Two discreet side pockets for your phone and keys.

Who VYVE is for

Women who wear compression every day and dread putting it on. Women whose legs feel heavy or puffy by evening. Nurses, travellers, grandmothers and busy professionals who want to zip in and get on with their day.
